I'm sure that not everyone will agree, but Cave In fully owned this show. They put on a set that put all the other bands to shame. And that isn't to say that the other bands were bad, Cave In was simply so much above my normal expected standard that the others simply paled in comparison. Starting off with some true progressive rock sounds that showed their unbelievable talent as musicians.
They than alternated between prog. indie rock and hardcore, doing both extemely well, showcasing the versatility of the band. They played several songs off of their latest LP Antannae which is fabulous, and put on a spectacular live performance for those tunes.
I simply can't state what great musicians these guys are, playing cleanly some unbelievably difficult pieces. If you get the chance check them out. They may not be for scenesters but I'm sure that you can find something in them that you will like.
Oh and apparently this is the first time in like 4-5 years that they have played any of their old hardcore stuff, which makes this show all the better!
