Are they cursed? Well that's their name, and yes they are cursed. We'll get to the curse after a quick review. I got up front for this set, Johnny boy from Is Grace Enough kept running his mouth to me about how good these guys were. I told him they'd better be good or he was buying me a beer for hyping them up so much. They came on, and played short songs and long songs full of power and emotion. The bassist Tom had his bass break on him, but he got it working.. eventually. Other than that the set went down with no trouble. The lead singer moves around like an a.d.d. kid on speed, so much pure energy in this guy. The set was amazing, pretty much everyone loved them..
so the next day I'm talking with scallen online, and he says they've killed their 4th, yup their 4th tour van, the transmission is blown, and now they have no way to get to Montreal for the show tonight. I'm thinking alright, I can drive them if they pay gas, I'll be home by 3am.. (work at 8am the next day). So I picked them up at 6ish, with Rob and we went to Montreal. Went to their show, I can easily say all the bands there sucked. I was bored out of my mind, Cursed put on a great (but short) set, but other than them I was bored (especially since there was no bar).
So after the set it's already 1am and they're asking me if I want to go eat, so we go down St Denis to near Sherbrooke and stop at a little 24 hour bbq store, they all order Tofu dogs, not being a scenester I order a hearty meat poutine haha. (complaints/hate mail about my scenester comment: hatemail@junkedcamera.com ) and then I notice all the crack heads coming in and out.
So I go outside while rob has a smoke, and this one raving lunatic with plastic bags for shoes is walking down the street yelling and making chipmunk noises. Looks like he hasn't showered in 2 weeks, shaved in a year and is pretty much stark raving mad. Well he has a "Reggie and the Full Effect" baseball jacket on, I was so stoked I wish I had my camera with me.. Anyways the band was super nice, paid my gas bill, my food and hooked me and rob up with some free merch. Hope they have better luck on van #5.
